Accessibility Statement

The Institute of Paleobiology of the Polish Academy of Sciences is committed to ensuring the accessibility of the website https://www.paleo.pan.pl/bip.html in accordance with the Act of April 4, 2019, on the digital accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public entities.

This accessibility statement applies primarily to the Public Information Bulletin (BIP) website.

The Institute strives to ensure the accessibility of other subpages of the main website https://www.paleo.pan.pl/ and other websites belonging to it, namely https://biomineralia.pl/ and https://muzeumewolucji.pl/.

Features have been added to all websites to enable visually impaired users to access the content, and alternative text for images is being gradually introduced. All new PDF documents contain fonts that can be read by applications designed for this purpose.

Accessibility of the BIP Website

The website https://www.paleo.pan.pl/bip.html complies with the Act on the Digital Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications of Public Entities. This statement was prepared on May 29, 2026. The declaration was prepared based on a self-assessment conducted by the public entity. Standard keyboard shortcuts can be used on the website.

Everyone has the right to request that a website, mobile application, or any element thereof be made digitally accessible. You may also request that information be provided in alternative formats, such as Braille or audio.
The request should include the requester’s contact information, specify which website is involved, and provide a method of contact. If the requester requests information in an alternative format, they should also specify the format of that information.

The request will be fulfilled immediately and no later than within 7 days. If it is not possible to meet this deadline, the IP PAN will immediately notify the requester of when the request can be fulfilled, provided that this period does not exceed 2 months. If it is not possible to ensure accessibility, the IP PAN may propose an alternative method of accessing the information.
In the event that IP PAN refuses to fulfill a request for accessibility or alternative access to information, a complaint may be filed against such action. After exhausting all other options, the complaint may also be submitted to the Ombudsman.

Architectural Accessibility of the Institute of Paleobiology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, 51/55 Twarda St., 00-818 Warsaw

Entrances to the building are located on Twarda St. and from the courtyard (entrance or access via an internal road between the buildings at 51/55 Twarda St. and 132/134 Chmielna St.). Upon entering from Twarda Street, stairs (6 steps) lead to the ground floor; there is no ramp for wheelchairs. There is a ramp for wheelchairs at the courtyard entrance. There are no tactile guides for blind or visually impaired people. The building does not have induction loops.
The reception desk is located at the back of the lobby on the right; there is a coat check next to the reception desk. In the ground-floor lobby, next to the reception desk, there is a restroom for people with disabilities (wide door allowing wheelchair access; inside, there is unobstructed access to sanitary fixtures equipped with grab bars to facilitate their use).

Next to the concierge desk is an elevator stop accessible to people with disabilities, providing access to every level of the building (wide doors allowing wheelchair access, handrails inside at a height suitable for people with disabilities, and Braille labels on the control panel). On each floor, the horizontal corridors allow for unobstructed wheelchair access
(no stairs, thresholds, or barriers preventing free movement).

In front of the building on Twarda Street, there are 2 designated parking spaces for people with disabilities; the indoor parking lot also has designated and marked spaces for people with disabilities. There is a ramp for people with disabilities leading from the indoor parking lot to the building. Inside the building, at the entrance, there is a reception desk open on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., where staff can provide assistance to people with disabilities as needed.
