Excavations
Polish-Russian expedition to positions on Eastern European platform

In 2008, a Polish-Russian reconnaissance expedition took place to paleontological sites in the European part of Russia, which are known for their spectacular record of sediments and fossils, representing poorly understood changes in ecosystems from the Permian-Triassic transition. At the same time, it was a reconnaissance before the planned regular excavations in Russia, which took place in 2010.
In the sediments of terrestrial origin from the Vyaznik and Rybinsk regions, it was possible to find the remains of shield-tailed amphibians, reptile bones, numerous shellfish (conchostracans) and freshwater bivalves.

It seems particularly interesting to determine the age of the faunal assemblage from Vyazniki, where the remains of the oldest reptile primates are found in association with fossils of typically Permian quadrupeds.
In addition to fieldwork, we conducted comparative studies of the rich collections of the Paleontological Museum in Moscow.
In September 2013, another expedition took place, lasting two weeks, during which we continued our search for Archosaurus rossicus at a site already known from previous excavations and several new sites in the area. Sixteen people from Poland and five from Russia participated in the expedition. It was funded by a grant from the Ministry of Science.
